365news gathered that The president of Nigeria cannot be chosen by the North, according to Chief Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of the Yoruba sociocultural organisation Afenifere.
On Monday, Adebanjo revealed this in Lagos.
He criticized suggestions that the Southeast should negotiate to elect the president of Nigeria.
According to the Afenifere leader, the Southeast has the right to elect Nigeria’s president without the need to appeal to any other region.
Adebanjo dismissed claims that the North had enough people to choose Nigeria’s president as well.
According to Adebanjo: “What right has the North to dictate who will become our president?
“It was said that the South-East must come to negotiate with the North because politics is a game of numbers.
“My case is – and I told people yesterday – the case for the East is not to beg for a favour; it is their right.
“Yet, each time I hear that they should go around because the North has the population, what fraudulent population? You can’t sell that to me.”
