365NEWS gathered that the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin (APC, Kano North), has described the victory of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s Ondo State governorship election as a strong endorsement of the ruling party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring that the will of the people was respected. He also praised the national chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for his visionary leadership, which he said has fostered greater cohesion within the party and contributed to recent electoral successes in Ondo, Imo, Kogi, and Edo states.

INEC announced on Sunday that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the APC won the election with 366,781 votes, defeating the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Agboola Ajayi, who garnered 117,845 votes, and Adeyemi Nejo of the African Democratic Party (ADP), who secured 4,138 votes.

Senator Barau stated:

“The victory of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, in Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State is well-deserved. I congratulate the governor-elect, H.E. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and all our supporters on this victory. It is not just a victory for the APC but for our democracy and the people of Ondo State.

“This victory is a further endorsement of our great party, the APC, and a reaffirmation of the confidence of the people of the state in the exemplary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

The Deputy President of the Senate, who also serves as the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, urged the governor-elect to embrace inclusivity and work with all stakeholders to advance the development of Ondo State. He also called on opposition candidates to support efforts aimed at moving the state forward.
