365NEWS gathered that Armed robbers have attacked a radio station in Oyo State, making off with equipment valued at millions of naira. The incident occurred at Ajilete 92.1 FM, located in the Gambari area of Ogbomoso, where the station’s security guard was also injured.
Ajilete FM, a station owned by the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), was raided in the early hours of Friday.
The robbers stole electric cables and other valuable equipment, and also targeted the station’s power generator, cutting off armoured cables and ransacking the transmitter house.
Sources revealed that the robbers also stole the security guard’s motorcycle.
The 70-year-old guard was assaulted, tied up, and struck in the chest with a gun. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is still receiving treatment.
Kemi Ojelade, the Acting Head of Channel, confirmed the attack in a telephone conversation on Saturday. She mentioned that the BCOS management, led by General Manager Mr. Goke Adelakun, had visited the station to assess the damage.
“The incident has been reported to the police. The Area Commander, ACP Adigun Gbolagade, from Owode police headquarters, has also visited the station,” Ojelade said.
