365NEWS has learned that Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has strongly denied any intentions of leaving the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for another political party.
In a statement released on Saturday by the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, Governor Ododo dismissed rumors of his alleged defection plans following the Supreme Court’s confirmation of his victory in the November 11, 2023, Governorship election.
The Governor called the claims of his potential defection baseless and urged the public to disregard the false information being circulated by those attempting to mislead.
According to the statement, the rumors are the work of individuals seeking to damage Governor Ododo’s reputation, especially after his recent Supreme Court victory, which was achieved with the support of his party.
Governor Ododo’s loyalty to the APC during both his campaign and subsequent legal challenges highlights his commitment to the party.
The controversy arose from a photograph taken at the wedding of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas’ daughter, which Governor Ododo attended alongside dignitaries from various political backgrounds. The Kogi State Government clarified that his presence was simply a gesture of goodwill and did not signify any intention to switch parties.
The government assured the people of Kogi State of Governor Ododo’s continued support for the APC and emphasized his dedication to furthering the party’s goals both locally and nationally.
The statement also called for unity among governors across party lines in supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to promote national unity and progress.
It concluded by urging the media to practice responsible journalism and avoid spreading unfounded allegations driven by vested interests, emphasizing the need for accurate reporting to maintain public trust and credibility.
As Governor Ododo reaffirms his commitment to the APC, the political landscape in Kogi State remains stable, sending a clear message to detractors that the Governor remains firmly aligned with his party.
