365NEWS gathered that the Joint security forces in Anambra State have apprehended a pastor allegedly involved in preparing charms for members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other criminals terrorizing Uga, Ekwulobia, and nearby communities.
According to the police, the suspects were linked to car theft, kidnappings, and armed robbery across Aguata local government area, including Umuchu, Nkpologwu, and Ezinifite.
The operation, carried out by the police, military, civil defence, and other security agencies, led to the arrest of two notorious members of the secessionist group.
In a statement released on Friday, August 23, state police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the suspects’ involvement in various criminal activities in the region.
Ikenga stated: “Among the two suspects, whose names are being withheld, one has a bullet wound on his leg, while the other, a fake pastor who was preparing criminal charms for the gang, has confessed to the crime and is now assisting the police in apprehending other gang members.
“The suspects have also provided information on the location of the shrine where the charms are made and some stolen vehicles.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has assured the people of Anambra that the Command is working tirelessly on all reported cases, especially incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, and other crimes, as the trust placed in us for the protection of life and property is not taken for granted.”
