365NEWS gathered that Osun State Government has begun construction work on the 6.2 km Ereja Square-Brewery dual carriageway in Ilesa.

It promised to complete the project within the next 12 months.

Osun State Governor, Adeola Adeleke made this known while inaugurating the construction work on Tuesday in Ilesa.

Adeleke revealed that the carriageway with a median would be installed with solar street lights, a walkway and a boulevard at some sections.

He also revealed that his administration planned to rehabilitate 16.5 kilometres of roads across the Osun East Senatorial District.

Calling on the residents around the construction area to give full cooperation and support the construction companies handling the project, he also tasked the contractors to ensure harmonious relationship with the host community of the projects.

In his words, “We are inaugurating the dualisation of this road which by the grace of God shall be completed in 12 months.

“This road which is 6.2Km length with 9.0m width of each carriageway with a median installed with solar street lights, walkway and a boulevard at some section of the road shall bring out the glory of Ijesha land.

“The dualisation of this road is divided into two sections which will commence simultaneously at a total cost of N16,570,862,248.07.

“After due compliance with procurement laws, section one of the project was awarded to Horizon Nigeria limited while the second section will be handled by Showie-tee Global Services Limited.

“We must note that apart from the flyover and road dualisation, our government is also billed to construct a total of over 16.5 kilometers of road across the Eastern Senatorial district at 1.5 kilometers of roads per local government.”

Adeleke called on the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure that would supervise the project to enforce the best standard in project management, as well as monitoring and evaluation.
