365NEWS gathered that A man identified as Azeez has jumped into the lagoon through the Ikoyi Link Bridge after being accused of stealing some bags of cement.
It was gathered that the accuser of the deceased, Azeez, was trailing him on Friday morning when he suddenly jumped into the lagoon.
The image maker in charge of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the Saturday Tribune.
Hundeyin stated that a senior official of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported the incident.
Hundeyin told the Sunday Tribune, “He (the LASEMA official) received a call that there was an accident at Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge.
The police image maker continued, “On getting there, he met a large crowd gathered by the waterside watching the lifeless body of a man, who was later identified as Azeez.”
“He was later confirmed dead by the paramedics of the Pre-Hospital Care, Lagos. It was discovered that one Elijah was pursuing the deceased before he jumped into the lagoon.”
According to the Lagos State Police image maker, “He was alleged to have stolen some bags of cement.”
The scene of the accident was promptly visited by the police, who removed the corpse and deposited it at the mortuary for autopsy and preservation.”
