365news gathered that Senator Shehu Sani, a former member of the federal legislature, claimed that those responsible for the attacks on INEC premises intended to sabotage the next elections.
According to DAILY POST, unidentified gunmen have been on the rampage, attacking and torching INEC offices around the nation, especially in the Southeast.
The INEC headquarters in Izzi Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, was set on fire by unidentified thugs on Sunday.
340 ballot boxes, 14 power generators, 130 polling booths, sizable water storage tanks, office furniture, and a significant number of voter cards are among the items demolished.
Reacting to the incident, Shehu Sani in a tweet on Monday declared that the attackers are enemies of progress who do not want the general elections to be conducted in 2023.
He wrote: “The ultimate aim of those attacking and burning down INEC offices is to sabotage the coming general elections.
“They are enemies of democracy. It’s a patriotic duty for people to defy violence and rise up against those anarchists.”
