365news gathered that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, asserts that Nigeria must go beyond oil and that, by enhancing physical infrastructure, the nation can transition from the oil to the industrial revolution.
If elected to power, Obi also declared that he will work to significantly cut the cost of governance and corruption.
This was revealed on Sunday afternoon in a string of tweets from the former governor of Anambra State’s verified Twitter account.
Speaking about cost-cutting measures, Obi stated that he would work within the limits of the resources at his disposal to create a balanced national budget.
He wrote, “As a nation, Nigeria must look beyond oil.
“We, therefore, intend to leapfrog Nigeria from oil to the Fourth Industrial Revolution by expanding physical infrastructure through market-driven reforms that will unleash growth-enabling entrepreneurship and market-creating innovations and market-creating innovations. To ensure sustainability and resilience, we will stop borrowing for consumption.
“It is also imperative that henceforth, we should strive to operate within available resources and strive for a balanced national budget as cost saving measures.”
